As Mira Nair was announced as New York city’s mayor’s mother in the New York Times (mayor Zohar Mamdani), I would like to reflect and

relay what my thoughts are on this. Mira Nair is the director of the film, Amelia which is a film with

Richard Gere and my “step-brother’s aunt” is the producer of this film. My mother has been living with her sister’s

ex-husband and father of their three children for about 15 years now in Brooklyn, NY. Her sister is also a location scout in the film industry working with Natalie Portman and others.

My thoughts are that I am both a Trump supporter and a supporter of Zohar Mamdani.

This is only my view as a New Yorker in film (living in NY, visiting LA often, working with AppleTV+ and a notable director who is an Academy Award nominee in the best documentary section and having family that is an Academy Award Nominee).

I do not know or represent anyone else’s view or opinion as I am not a consultant or researcher.

I am hearing that those who like and wish to be Hollywood, unfortunately do not have enough

experience or education and might in fact “ruin” Hollywood itself as we have heard about the various

incidents that have occurred to talented producers, actors and writers— are in fact more so with Walmart

and Target owners who might in fact support both Madani and Trump in the same way that Hollywood

does due to the fact that they wish to reach a wide audience, that is an audience that includes the best

people in the world. All businesses wish to only deal with the best, meaning personality, education and so on although we all have our individual talents.

If I really think about how average Republicans and Democrats can get along, I would say everyone has

the basic need of success and some notoriety and desire of being liked.

From this personally, I support those who support the brands I like and those will make them better. We

have seen misleading leadership and misguidance in tech companies that indeed influence the life of

others and other companies in other categories.

In any case, as it is in fact confusing in a way and I have kept my network relatively light and clean and

have interacted with the world only through my computer and literature mainly as I stroll the beautiful

streets of New York and enjoy its cafes and the scenery that has changed as the influx of tourists for the

worst at times, I can say that those who wish to be in my network must support values that we can all

agree on: liveliness, optimism, success and interaction.

From this I select my activity carefully and no further advice is necessary as I am not confused.

My mother is a U.S. citizen and I am a green card holder. We are an European American, Japanese, and Indian

family.

Kind Regards,

Aiya Ono
